PEPR Becomes Offical Special Interest Group of the Society for Prevention Science
April 16, 2012
We are pleased to announce that PEPR has become an official Special Interest Group of the Society for Prevention Research (SPR). The Society is "dedicated to advancing scientific investigation on the etiology and prevention of social, physical and mental health, and academic problems and on the translation of that information to promote health and well being." SPR 's membership has grown continuously over the last 20 years and the Society holds an annual conference each Summer.
The SPR membership is particularly concerned with the development and translation of evidence-based mental, emotional and behavioral prevention programs to practice. PEPR members have had great success in the past with disseminating prevention efficiency research at the SPR conference. We hope that PEPR's recognition as an official SIG will increase awareness of the need to evaluate societal value of prevention efforts.
